Aukamm School Advisory Committee – Meeting Minutes Date:10/6/2025
Attendees:
Angelia Hadley, Principal; Ashley Dixon, Parent; Kelsey Hunchusky, Faculty; Heather Matinchek, Parent, Janelle Wonneberg, parent; Debra Fitzgerald, Faculty
Meeting Called to Order by: Heather Matinchek at 3:12pm
Principal Report:
1) Elect 2025-2026 Board Members: Heather Matinchek has nominated herself as Secretary, Ashley Dixon has nominated herself as President. All attendees approved nominations.
2) The Bear Essentials Newsletter is being updated, and it will now be on the school’s website. The front office is in the process of transferring it over to the website.
3) Fire prevention will be on 10/9, and red ribbon week will be held 23-31 where there will be dress up days and emphasis on healthy choices.
New Business:
1) Schleswigstrasse (street in front of school) is back to one-way, which has made crossing the street safer again and it opens up additional parking.
2) Using government facilities during Government Shutdown. Possibly having to postpone Fall Fest or other activities during this time. It is confirmed that PTA can utilize Aukamm Elementary Facilities for after school activities since the PTA does not require government funding.
3) No complex SAC this year. Individual SAC with the IAC meetings only. 4) The Medical Clinic posted about the upcoming flu-shot clinics. Clinics will start in November. Flu Shots are required this year.
5) New students and working with housing to help facilitate switching schools. How can we support the students that start at one school for a week, then get switched over to Aukamm because housing is finally available.
6) New elementary on Clay and how that will affect Aukamm - There will be 3 elementary schools: Aukamm Elementary, Wiesbaden Elementary, and the new elementary being built on Clay. No update on whether the new elementary school on Clay will have a Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. No new info regarding if Aukamm will get a Pre-k program.
Old Business:
1.) Building a gymnasium or multi-purpose room for Aukamm Elementary School: Representatives from DODEA came to look at Aukamm. They looked at the soccer field as a potential spot to build the gym; however, the priorities are to renovate the walkway up to the school from the gate entrance, and update the school’s mass communication system since some classrooms can’t hear the intercom system, which is a safety issue.
2.) Emergency Drills: AES has completed 1 practice Lock Down Drill, 2 practice Fire Drills, and 1 real-time Secure Drill. All practice drills have been organized and without any issues. The real-time Secure Drill was executed successfully with no disruptions or concerns.
Open Items: Mrs. Hadley will gather the future IAC meeting dates so the SAC dates can be determined. She will send out all the dates when they are scheduled.
Next SAC meeting: not scheduled yet
Next IAC meeting: 10/15/2025, at 3:30-4:30, at ACS MWR
